## Choosing a [Character](/wagdie-players-handbook/overview/characters.md)

Never over-extend when [purchasing a character](https://opensea.io/collection/we-are-all-going-to-die), speculation of price has no impact on the game. Aesthetics can offer more than any rarity metric, when picking a character. Remember, while each participant has the ability to bring any character to life, there is also a risk of permanent death.

### Traits & Characteristics

There are traits associated with the 17, [Concords](/wagdie-players-handbook/overview/tokens-of-concord.md#wagdie-tokens-of-concord), and The Two: Mother Agora, Nameless Serpent. These characteristics offer direct association, but think of them as guidelines, not restrictions. A trait could be worn in *defiance, allegiance, or an indifference*. **Ultimately the player decides**.<br>

Although the backgrounds on characters provide alignment metadata, as seen on fateofwagdie.com/character sheets and now updated to Markets, each player is welcome to interpret and play their character to their choosing.&#x20;

### Origin

Body types are linked to Origin Metadata as seen on fateofwagdie.com char sheets and now updated across OpenSea / other markets. As always each player is welcome to interpret and play their character to their choosing.&#x20;

### Class

Class types are linked to Mask > Armor traits, priority to Mask first then Armor. If the Mask is linked to Unknown or N.A. it will read off the Armor. As always each player is welcome to interpret and play their character to their choosing.
