Bots create another point of attack, it's important to understand Permissions and Role Hierarchy before deploying bots. Some popular bots won't be recommended due to previous threats.

Discord bots are used to provide support in Join Gate/Raid, Moderation (Security), Auto-Moderation, and Services/Utilities.

Join Gate/Raid Prevention are the best way to mitigate bots and bad actors from entering the server outside of manually interviewing each user as they enter.
Moderation (Security) bots allow one to secure Discords beyond default abilities, replacing dangerous permissions and gating dangerous roles and actions.
Automod is a necessity for reducing busywork and ensuring server rules are enforced 24/7

Depending on the size and scale of the operation, I highly recommend building custom bots and avoiding third-party services wherever possible. Bots like Mee6, Captcha Bot, and Ticket Tool are not on this list due to compromises between 2021-2022.
